Donald Freedman to receive Scholar-Mentor Award
[October 28, 2008]
RF&G is proud to report that Donald Freedman, a founding partner of the Firm, has been chosen by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. to be one of its four recipients this year of its Scholar-Mentor Award, to be presented at the association's Annual Meeting on January 29, 2009. MCLE created the Scholar-Mentor Awards in 2007 to honor four MCLE volunteers each year who have "raised the bar" through their outstanding contributions to legal education and to acknowledge their exceptional service to the legal profession and their demonstration of the following qualities: excellence in teaching or writing for MCLE programs and publications; long-term service to MCLE as a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer; and recognized standing in the Massachusetts legal community. Attorney Freedman, with Attorney Emily Starr, of Worcester, conceived the most important treatise for Massachusetts attorneys on elder and disability law, the three-volume, "Estate Planning for the Aged or Incapacitated Client in Massachusetts," published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education. He and Attorney Starr have authored chapters in and edited every edition of the treatise, now in its 3rd edition, 3rd supplement. They have also co-chaired annual MCLE programs on advanced topics in elder and disability law for more than twenty years. Attorney Starr is also a recipient of this year's award.
