Disability Law Elder Law Estate Planning Probate and Trusts
Attorney Shirahama concentrates her practice in elder law, disability law and estate planning. Attorney Shirahama’s practice includes the preparation of estate plans for clients with family members with disabilities or other special needs and advising clients on minimizing federal and state estate taxes. She also advises trustees, guardians or other fiduciaries on benefits and trust administration matters.
Before joining the firm in September 2004, Attorney Shirahama was a clinical instructor at the Hale & Dorr Legal Services Center of Harvard Law School, where her work focused on estate and permanency planning for families affected by HIV and AIDS.
Attorney Shirahama is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Women's Bar Association (where she serves as co-chair of the Legislative Policy Committee), the Boston Bar Association Trusts & Estates Section and the Massachusetts Bar Association Probate Section. Attorney Shirahama volunteers for the Women’s Bar Foundation Elder Law Project.
Attorney Shirahama graduated magna cum laude from Colby College with honors and received her law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she was Notes and Comments Editor of the Insurance Law Journal.
